Construction: Nicaraguan filler, binder and wrapper.
Price: I paid $2 but they run about $6 normally, I think.
Size: Diplomatico (7 x 50)
Draw: Had a great draw, surprisingly good actually... my expectations were low.
Strength: Fairly full-bodied, bit on the stronger side (Maduro wrapper)
Burn: Definitely the most disappointing facet of the cigar. 2 out of 3 of these burned extremely unevenly, the wrapper going quite a bit quicker than the filler. It redeemed itself a little in the last third of the stick, but still, very frustrating. Potentially a 45-50 minute smoke, mine burned through in about 30-35.
Impression: I picked these up on the cheap, and it wasn't till after I smoked it that I discovered they are actually mid-range priced cigars. Thus my expectations were pretty low, and for the most part they were exceeded. The flavors are actually quite good in this cigar... a nice balance of rich earthy and wooden notes, but with a bit of spiciness that kept it interesting. The wrapper is supposedly quite similar to the one used on one of my favorite cigars - Padron. I can't say I found the flavors noticeably similar, but the spiciness was definitely reminiscent. The draw was really quite nice and resulted in a very thick volume of smoke which was quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, the uneven and frustrating burn nearly killed this cigar for me. I'm trying not to let that affect my review too much, as sometimes you just get a poor cigar from an otherwise great brand.
Value: At the budget-price of $2, this is a complete steal. For the $6 it routinely sells for, it's still a good buy, if you don't mind constantly attending to the poor burn (potentially).
Rating: 76/100 (Rather Tasty).
